Jurassic World Dominion
“Bigger. Why do they always have to go bigger?”
Well, Ian, that’s to up the awe and fear factor, of course. We wouldn't want it any other way.
Just sitting here in the parking lot of Mt. Sinai in Hartford, waiting for Mom’s appointment to be done. Only my Dad could go in with her, though she needs a lot of help. So, I’m trying to work on my iPad over a crappy hotspot connection from my phone, when the trailer for Jurassic World: Dominion pops up in a Twitter notification from Chris Pratt. How could I not click on it?
Aww, Ellie and Alan. They just had to get a scene in here to give us all a heavy dose of nostalgia. There have to be at least a few other scenes like this or little Easter eggs and acknowledgements of what this franchise—especially that first blockbuster that took up so much headspace in and emotional connection to our childhoods—has meant to us.
I always keep my excitement contained so as not to be disappointed if things turn out to fail expectation. I won't do that here. I mean, it actually stopped me in my tracks and got me to write a blog post again! That's a major thing. I can't imagine a new Jurassic entry not being entertaining. I hope I get goosebumps in the theater the way I remember from the original Jurassic Park. So many years ago now, but there are moments that are as vivid as if it was yesterday. JP was such a fantastic experience and only the second movie of my childhood to become a favorite (the first being The Princess Bride) that will always put a smile on my face. Having Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum back for this one will ensure that I end up with fond memories of Dominion, too…unless they all get eaten.
I'll make a small commission if you purchase through one of these Amazon links. Helps to keeps the blog running (good for me) and won't cost you anything (good for you).
