"Who the hell are you guys?"
The superhero team-up that’s been forever in the making is almost here! I can hardly believe it was all the way back in 2008 that Iron Man came out and I fell truly, madly, deeply in love with the world of Marvel. I didn’t have real access to comics when I was growing up, so I didn’t think much about getting into them as an adult. I was hardly impressed by film adaptations very often, always wondering what they could have been if someone had cared to try.
Then at the tender age of 29, when Tony Stark burned an arc reactor shaped brand onto my heart and Bruce Wayne and the Joker battled for my soul in The Dark Knight, I fell hard for these stories. I saw that Batman Begins didn’t have to be an anomaly, that superhero movies could be taken seriously by screenwriters, by directors, by actors, by people who love what they’re doing and want to do their best.
There’s a power in a well-written superhero movie with unexpected tenderness, snappy humor and a talented cast. And I’m so happy to see all these years of hard work bring everyone together. I never got to write here about how much I enjoyed Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, or Spider-Man: Homecoming, or Thor: Ragnarok, because I’ve been insanely busy, but rest assured that every time a new Marvel movie comes out, I have a damn good time with it. And I hope we all have a damn good time with Infinity War. Enjoy the trailer, if you didn’t already see it yesterday or press Play while I was rambling on.
